Senator Natasha Sounds Alarm As Her Image Goes Viral In Fake Investment Video
The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has refuted a viral video circulating online that falsely suggests she is promoting a fraudulent investment scheme. According to a statement released on Sunday, the lawmaker described the video as manipulated and misleading, created by fraudsters seeking to deceive the public.
Akpoti-Uduaghan urged Nigerians to disregard the content and avoid engaging with any investment platform linked to the video. She explained that the clip was doctored from a previous television interview she granted to journalist Seun Okinbaloye. Criminals allegedly altered the footage to make it appear as though she was endorsing a fraudulent investment platform.
“Although the manipulated clip appears to feature my voice and image, it is entirely fabricated and should not be trusted,” the senator stated. She emphasized that she has no affiliation with the platform being advertised and warned citizens to remain cautious and vigilant against online scams.
The lawmaker also called on the public to help curb the spread of the video by reporting the social media accounts or platforms hosting it, noting that such actions could prevent further deception. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s warning comes amid rising concerns over cyber fraud and identity manipulation targeting public figures, as criminals increasingly use digital editing and artificial intelligence to create fake endorsements for fraudulent schemes.
