Several Injured As Car Collides With Tricycles In Lagos

Eyewitness accounts revealed that in the process of swerving, the vehicle first struck the LAWMA worker before veering off its lane and crashing into two tricycles coming from the opposite direction. The impact left several passengers injured, while the tricycles were severely damaged.

A witness at the scene stated that the driver appeared to have lost control while trying to avoid the sweeper, noting that the crash happened suddenly and caused panic among road users. It was gathered that about 10 passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries, with some reported to be in serious condition while others suffered minor wounds.

The injured victims were initially rushed to a private medical facility for emergency treatment before some were later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja for further care. Personnel from the Gowon Divisional Police Headquarters, alongside officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and neighbourhood watch groups, were deployed to the scene to manage traffic and assist in rescue operations. The crash caused temporary disruption along the busy Ipaja corridor before normal traffic flow was restored, while authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident at the time of filing this report.
