Sh*ck Exit: Former FCT Minister Quits PDP After 24 Years
Former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Jumoke Akinjide, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after more than two decades of membership.
According to Ireporter Online, the former minister communicated her decision in a resignation letter dated Monday, March 30, 2026, noting that her exit takes immediate effect. Akinjide, who became a member of the party in 2001, stated that her decision followed an extended period of personal reflection.
In the letter, she acknowledged that leaving the PDP was a difficult step, considering her long-standing affiliation with the party. She, however, emphasised that the move was carefully considered after weighing her experiences and future direction.
Akinjide expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities it afforded her throughout her political journey, noting that it provided a platform for public service and meaningful engagement in governance. She also highlighted the relationships and experiences she gained during her time within the party.
The former minister further extended her goodwill to the PDP, wishing the party success in its future political activities.
Akinjide previously served as Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
