Sh*ck In Kano: Former Finance Commissioner Passes Away

According to Ireporter Online, Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago, a former Commissioner for Finance in Kano State, has passed away. The distinguished academic and public servant died on Wednesday evening at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

The announcement was made by Lamara Garba, Director of Information at Bayero University Kano, who described the news as a deeply painful moment for the university community. Professor Dandago, a specialist in Accounting and Taxation, dedicated many years to service in both academia and government.

Garba highlighted that the late scholar had recently contributed to a support fund aimed at assisting families of deceased staff members at the university. Even in his final days, Professor Dandago remained active in academic and public discussions, participating last weekend as a panelist in a Ramadan lecture organized by the International Institute of Islamic Thought.

Professor Dandago was appointed Commissioner for Finance in June 2015 during the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, a position he held until October 2018. Beyond his government service, he had a distinguished academic career at Bayero University Kano, joining the institution in September 1990 and eventually becoming Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.

Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to research and scholarship, authoring and editing numerous works on Accounting, Taxation, Finance, and Economics. His death marks the loss of a respected scholar and dedicated public servant in both the academic and political spheres.
