Shehu Sani Slams CAF After AFCON Title Sh*ck

According to Ireporter Online, former Nigerian lawmaker Shehu Sani has criticized the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following its controversial decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title and award it to Morocco.

CAF’s Appeal Board ruled on Tuesday that Senegal forfeited the final after its players walked off the pitch in protest during a tense moment of the match. The ruling overturned Senegal’s 1-0 victory and awarded Morocco a 3-0 walkover.

The controversy erupted when the referee awarded Morocco a disputed penalty. In response, Senegal’s players temporarily abandoned the match, though captain Sadio Mane stayed behind and later persuaded his teammates to return and finish the game. Morocco failed to convert the penalty, allowing Senegal to secure victory on the field—an outcome now nullified by CAF’s decision.

Reacting on , Sani condemned the ruling, stating: “Senegal won the AFCON on the pitch but was snatched by CAF in the Boardroom; that’s unconscionable and a dangerous precedent in African football.” He further accused CAF of favoring Morocco, saying, “The fact that the Senegalese team walked out in protest and returned to play till the final whistle doesn’t warrant this afterthought daylight robbery. They just want to reward Morocco for hosting and losing.”
