Despite being scheduled to appear at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, at 10:00 am on January 3, 2024, Umar-Farouq failed to show up, keeping investigators waiting for over eight hours with no official communication regarding her absence.

The EFCC had formally requested Umar Farouq’s presence for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

However, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), EFCC Spokesperson Dele Oyewale clarified that the former minister had sent a letter explaining her inability to honor the invitation due to health challenges.

In response to this development, Showunmi shared his perspective on X, highlighting the pattern where politicians conveniently claim health issues when called upon to account for financial misappropriation during their terms.

His post suggested skepticism about the sudden onset of health challenges when faced with accountability for the alleged misuse of public funds.
