In late 2023, the National Assembly endorsed a N61.55 billion FCT supplementary budget after approving the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill for the FCT.

Of this sum, N12.90 billion was allocated for overhead costs (recurrent expenditure), while N48.65 billion was earmarked for capital projects.

Simultaneously, Wike urged the National Assembly to sanction the N17 billion allocated for the FCT Administration in the 2024 national budget.

During his appearance before the lawmakers to defend the FCT budget on Friday, the former Rivers State Governor appealed for approval, emphasizing that the funds were designated for completing abandoned projects and sustaining critical initiatives in the FCT.

Providing a breakdown of the budget figures, Wike specified that N5 billion was set aside as counterpart funding for the Greater Abuja Water Supply project, while N4.5 billion was allocated for the design and construction of the Nigeria Cultural Centre and Millennium Tower.
