According to Ireporter Online, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has praised his captain Koke and expressed strong support for departing forward Antoine Griezmann following the club’s exit from the UEFA Champions League.

Atletico Madrid were eliminated on Tuesday night after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the second leg of their semi-final clash at the Emirates Stadium. Bukayo Saka scored the decisive goal, sealing a 2-1 aggregate victory for the Premier League side and bringing an end to Atletico’s European campaign.

Speaking after the encounter in London, Simeone highlighted the performances of players who, in his view, reflected the team’s fighting spirit despite the disappointment. The Argentine tactician singled out veteran midfielder Koke for special praise, describing his performance as a display of enduring quality and leadership.

“Koke was incredible, a masterclass in how to play football at his age. I am grateful to the team,” Simeone stated.

The Atletico boss also appealed to supporters to show appreciation for Antoine Griezmann, who is expected to depart the club at the end of the season for Orlando City, marking the end of a notable spell in Madrid.

“I hope our fans give Antoine Griezmann the boost he has earned in these last few matches,” he added.

The defeat represents yet another painful European exit for Atletico under Simeone, with the Spanish side having reached the Champions League semi-finals on multiple occasions, including 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2026, as well as two final appearances without lifting the trophy.
