Sport: Rivers Government Assures-Finidi Of Total Support As Head-Coach (View-Details)
The Rivers State government has expressed total confidence in the ability of Finidi George, the newly appointed head coach of Rivers United.
In a conversation with the club’s media, the state Commissioner for Sports, Chris Green, affirmed the government’s expectation of exceptional results from the former Super Eagles player.
Finidi George was appointed as the head coach, replacing Stanley Eguma, who was dismissed following the team’s poor performance in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) last season.
“We have decided to bring in our own, Finidi George, a serial winner who has won domestically and internationally,” Green told Rivers United Media. “He belongs to the greatest in football in Nigeria, bringing home the Cup of Nations in 1994.”
Green emphasized the high expectations set for Finidi and highlighted the importance of discipline and dedication within the team.
“We are blessed to have him back home, and we expect nothing but the best from him,” Green continued. “This time, it’s not business as usual. Discipline is our watchword. We won’t tolerate sabotage. The best must come to Rivers United.”
With this backing, Finidi George is poised to lead Rivers United into a new era, aiming to restore the team’s prestige and achieve significant success in the upcoming season.
