Dressed in a stunning pink outfit that showcased her refined style, Aisha Buhari was seated in the VIP section alongside a number of prominent figures, including her children and the governors of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, and Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo. They were joined by a distinguished group of dignitaries, including former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke, Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Senator John Owan Enoh, and Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong of Cross River South.

International diplomats from organizations such as the United Nations and the European Union also attended, adding a global touch to the celebrations.

The event kicked off at Millennium Park in Calabar, where Cross River State Governor Prince Bassey Otu highlighted this year’s theme, “Our Shared Prosperity,” which resonated with the international audience in attendance. He emphasized the importance of building economic, social, and cultural prosperity for all, ensuring the festival’s relevance both locally and globally.

Governor Otu praised the founders of the Calabar Carnival, including former governors Duke, Liyel Imoke, and Prof. Ben Ayade, for their efforts in making the event a success. He pledged to further elevate the carnival during his administration, with plans to introduce a Diaspora band in future editions.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRasaq also commended Governor Otu’s leadership, recognizing the carnival’s ability to attract global attention and boost the state’s economy through tourism and increased revenue.

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo echoed these sentiments, applauding the enthusiasm of both participants and residents, highlighting the event’s significance for the people of Calabar and beyond.
