The victim was ambushed by six armed men under a pedestrian bridge along Alieta Road, Lugbe, where they forcibly ejected her and her driver from her 2012 black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. The robbers made off with the vehicle and personal belongings, but the quick thinking of a bystander, who notified the police, led to a swift response from the authorities.

As the suspects sped away, police operatives tracked the stolen vehicle and, after a tense pursuit, spotted it at a checkpoint along Dantata Bridge, Galadimawa Road. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects opened fire, leading to a fierce gun battle. However, the police’s superior firepower forced the robbers to abandon the vehicle and flee into nearby bushes. The stolen car, along with valuable items, including an international passport and cash, were recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
