Famed Afrobeats artist Naira Marley has encouraged his devoted followers, known as Marlians, and the Nigerian youth in general to refrain from using drugs and engaging in substance abuse, as these practices are detrimental to their overall well-being.

The performer of the hit song “Issa Goal” offered this advice during his visit to the headquarters of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Abuja on Thursday.

During his visit, Naira Marley met with Buba Marwa, the Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, to express his support for the anti-drug abuse campaign.

In a video tweet shared by the agency, Naira Marley conveyed his message: “I would like to urge my fans, the Marlians, and all Nigerian youths to refrain from using drugs because it is detrimental to your well-being. Let us cease all forms of substance abuse.”

He continued, “I have joined this campaign to support NDLEA’s efforts to combat drug use on the streets. I implore you to join us. It truly is harmful; it can lead to criminal activities and have numerous negative effects on you.”

Naira Marley gained prominence amid a fraud case involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Last year, he faced an 11-count charge related to card fraud.
