This Is Not A Big Deal’ — Onanuga Dismisses Tinubu Stumble

According to Ireporter Online, the Presidency has downplayed concerns over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s health after a brief stumble during his state visit to Ankara, Türkiye, on Tuesday.

The incident occurred while President Tinubu was joining his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for a ceremonial inspection. The President momentarily lost his balance after stepping on a metal object on the floor.

Reacting to the development, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the situation as a minor occurrence that had been exaggerated by mischief-makers. He explained that the President merely stumbled after stepping on a metal surface, stressing that the moment did not warrant alarm.

Onanuga noted that the incident was fleeting and insisted it should not be misconstrued, adding that the President did not fall. He further assured Nigerians that President Tinubu remains fit, healthy, and fully engaged in his official duties.

He urged the public to ignore sensational narratives surrounding the episode, emphasizing that the President’s visit to Türkiye has continued without disruption. The Presidency also disclosed that the trip underscores the growing diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Türkiye, with both leaders expected to sign several memoranda of understanding in key areas including trade, investment, energy, and defence.
