This announcement was made by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, during an inspection of the Lafia bypass and the dualisation of the Makurdi-Otukpo-9th mile road.
Expressing gratitude, the minister commended the President for swiftly approving the release of funds, allowing work to commence on these vital projects.
He acknowledged that financial constraints had previously delayed progress on these initiatives but emphasized that the recent approval would facilitate the timely execution of the projects.
“I want to thank Mr. President, who, about three days ago, approved that work should immediately commence in many sections of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road.
We were having some problems with funding, but the president has solved the problem and directed for the immediate release of funds so that the road construction will continue. The same thing with the Lagos-Ibadan highway and the Second Niger Bridge bypasses,” stated Umahi.
The minister specifically highlighted the importance of the Lagos-Ibadan highway and the Second Niger Bridge bypasses, noting their critical roles in enhancing transportation and connectivity across regions.
The development is expected to alleviate previous delays and contribute to the overall improvement of Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape.
Umahi also commended the governors of Benue and Enugu for their efforts in facilitating a seamless working environment for contractors on the Makurdi-Otukpo-9th mile road, a project being financed by China Exim Bank.
The commitment to addressing funding challenges demonstrates the government’s dedication to advancing key infrastructure projects for the benefit of the nation.
