Tinubu Pledges to Bolster Military Readiness Amid Rising Insecurity
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has committed to enhancing the capabilities of Nigeria’s armed forces. In a statement released by VANGUARD on August 23, 2024, Tinubu expressed his determination to use his constitutional powers to ensure that the military is both well-equipped and effective.
As Nigeria faces increasing security challenges and heightened tensions, the President’s pledge highlights the urgent need for robust measures to protect citizens and their property. Tinubu emphasized the military’s achievements under his administration, noting their significant role in safeguarding the nation’s borders and maintaining internal security.
“Under my watch, members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria have made remarkable sacrifices and recorded significant achievements in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and securing the lives and properties of our citizens,” Tinubu said. He added, “I will continue to do everything within my constitutional powers to ensure that the Nigerian military is well-resourced and fit for purpose.”
Despite the President’s assurances, public skepticism persists. Many Nigerians are concerned about the ongoing security issues and question whether the armed forces will effectively address these challenges. Tinubu’s promise to bolster military resources comes at a critical time, as the nation grapples with persistent threats and seeks solutions to enhance security.
