Responding to Moghalu’s remarks, Ajayi remarked that the former CBN official appears to have convinced himself that his tenure in government represented a ‘golden era of competence’ in overseeing Nigeria’s economy.

Ajayi argued that during the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) regime, there was a lack of advancement in infrastructural development that directly impacted the quality of life.

He further contended that when Moghalu served as the CBN Deputy Governor, there were instances of looting hundreds of millions of dollars under various pretenses.

Despite this, Moghalu seeks to portray that period as the epitome of economic management excellence in Nigeria.

Expressing his perspective, Ajayi stated, “I continue to find it quite amusing how @MoghaluKingsley and others like him have managed to convince themselves that their period in government was the ‘golden era of competence’ in the management of the economy of Nigeria.

Granted that the OBJ era 1999-2007 birthed some reforms that opened up the economy, but it was a period that Nigeria didn’t see any progress in infrastructural development that has a direct bearing on the quality of life.”
