Victor Osimhen Drops Warning For Liverpool Ahead Of Champions League Draw
According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has shared his thoughts on Galatasaray’s potential opponents in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, highlighting that a matchup against Liverpool would carry added significance.
Galatasaray secured their place in the knockout stages after a dramatic playoff victory over Juventus, shifting focus to the upcoming draw and the quality of teams they may face. Premier League sides Liverpool and Tottenham are among the possible opponents, presenting formidable challenges for the Turkish champions.
Speaking in an interview with CBS Sports, Osimhen acknowledged that while Galatasaray are prepared for any opponent, some matchups come with extra weight. “To be honest, meeting Liverpool now is going to be like some sort of revenge,” he said. “Anyone we meet now… I wouldn’t say much but I would like to escape Liverpool. But if they come, yeah, we’re going to dig it out, but it’s not going to be easy.”
Osimhen scored the decisive goal when Galatasaray narrowly defeated Liverpool 1-0 in Istanbul earlier this season, but he recognizes that playing at Anfield would be a completely different challenge.
He added, “This is the Champions League, no team is easy. We’ve seen how well Bodo/Glimt are performing. To win, you have to face the big teams and make a statement. We’ve met Liverpool but not at Anfield. If we play them, it’s going to be an amazing game. We’re ready for it. It won’t be easy, but we have the fight in us.”
The 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw is set for Friday, February 27.
