A video circulating on social media has captured a Nigerian

police officer allegedly consuming alcohol during a stop-and-check operation, sparking widespread public outrage and renewed scruti

ny of conduct within the force.

In the footage, the officer is seen interacting with occupants of a stationary vehicle while reportedly drinking from a bottle of Hennessy. He is also heard mentioning figures, as one of the vehicle occupants appears to be engaged in a phon

e-based transaction, raising further concerns about possible solicitation.

The conduct depicted in the video is said to contravene Section 100(1) of the Nigeria Police Act, 2021, which prohibits officers on duty from consuming intoxicating liquor, psychotropic substances, or stimulants, with violations subject to disciplinary measures under police regulations.

Reacting to the viral clip, the Nigeria Police Force stated that it has commenced efforts to identify the officer involved.
