What Niger Did When Nigeria, Benin, Togo Flagged Off Joint Regional Maritime Operation

The naval forces of Benin Republic, Togo, and Nigeria have officially launched Operation Safe Domain II under the theme ‘Advancing Maritime Security through Collaborative Efforts for Regional Prosperity.’

This event took place on Monday in Benin Republic. Notably, the Niger Republic, a signatory to the MoU, was not in attendance.

Commodore Aniedi Ibok, the Director of the Multinational Maritime Coordination Centre Zone E, emphasized that this operation is a component of a memorandum of understanding established in 2014.

He highlighted that this agreement empowers the naval forces of each nation to combat criminal activities without any limitations imposed by borders.
