Ogbonna Nwuke, a former member of the House of Representatives from Rivers State, has shed light on the growing support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, attributing it to his peaceful approach to governance. Nwuke, who represented the Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency in the National Assembly from 2011 to 2015, made these remarks on Tuesday in Port Harcourt.
“In Rivers State, we aspire for stability, progress, and peace,” Nwuke stated. “We firmly believe that there cannot be two governors in a unified state. Our people have carefully considered this and concluded that aligning with those in Abuja is not conducive to advancing the interests of the state.”
Rivers Crisis: ‘Odili Is Ruffling Feathers’ – Fubara Takes a Dig
Meanwhile, Governor Fubara has hailed former Governor Peter Odili while subtly criticizing individuals causing discord within his administration.
Speaking to residents of the Ndoni community in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, shortly after commissioning a health center donated by Odili, Fubara commended the former governor for his unwavering support amidst the ongoing crisis in Rivers State. He noted that individuals with integrity and character are steadfastly standing by his administration, unlike others who lack these attributes.
“We are delighted that he stands with us. His mere presence is unsettling some individuals, leading them to grant various media interviews,” Fubara remarked. “However, those with true integrity are firmly on our side. We prefer to stand with one person of integrity than a thousand with questionable character.”
Fubara expressed gratitude for being invited to the event and praised the Ndoni people for supporting their own. He emphasized the significance of giving back to society, highlighting Odili’s project as a genuine example of community empowerment.
“We celebrate our benefactor today. This project is a testament to his commitment to his people,” Fubara stated. “His actions exemplify the ‘I’ agenda – a sincere effort to uplift the community. This wasn’t executed during his tenure when public funds were available. Now, as a private individual, he has chosen to give back to society.”
Fubara concluded by urging continued support for Odili, describing him as a man of integrity and character. He emphasized the importance of recognizing true greatness and appreciating those who contribute positively to society.
