APC

Mallam Salihu Lukman, the National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress for North-West, has officially tendered his resignation from the position. He submitted his resignation letter to the Acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Abubakar Kyari, on Wednesday.

This move comes one week after the former National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, also resigned from their respective positions.

In his resignation letter, Lukman cited alleged illegal acts and interference in the affairs of the party, which he believed deviated from the original vision of forming a progressive party. He expressed his conviction that the current atmosphere in the party contradicted its founding principles.

Lukman stated that rather than remaining in the party and becoming a distraction to its leaders, especially to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, he chose to step down. He emphasized that he will maintain his party membership, hoping that the party’s leaders, particularly President Tinubu, will address any unjust and illegal actions for the sake of upholding democratic and progressive ideals.

The outgoing vice chairman also expressed appreciation to former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, for nominating and supporting him throughout his tenure. He assured that he would continue to support the party in whatever capacity he can from the background.

In conclusion, Lukman wished the party and its leaders, including President Tinubu, the best and pledged to offer his modest support to the party’s success in the future.
