Shehu Sani Raises Eyebrows Over Tinubu’s Delegation Size For Qatar Trip

Former Senator Shehu Sani has expressed concern over the size of the delegation accompanying President Bola Tinubu on his upcoming trip to Qatar for business and investment discussions.

Taking to his official social media handle, Sani questioned the need for such a large delegation, especially considering recent directives to streamline official entourages.

President Tinubu’s entourage, which includes his sons, comprises 38 individuals, prompting Sani to remind the President of his earlier commitment to limit entourage size to 20 individuals.

Sani emphasized the importance of transparency, urging the presidency to clarify if some aides traveled independently or as part of the official delegation.

The former lawmaker’s remarks come in the wake of recent cost-cutting measures approved by the President, which aim to reduce entourage sizes by 60% for both local and international travels.

Under these directives, only a maximum of 20 individuals are permitted to accompany the President on international trips, with a further reduction to five for the First Lady.

Similar restrictions apply to the Vice President and his spouse, with a limit of five individuals each for official international travels.

Sani’s commentary underscores the ongoing efforts to enhance accountability and fiscal responsibility within government operations, particularly concerning official travel expenses.
