Sani, while speaking to journalists, expressed gratitude for the revelation of the truth regarding the $350 million loan issue between him and the former governor. He recounted his efforts to prevent the state from falling into excessive indebtedness.

“I have spoken exhaustively on this matter. During my tenure, I cautioned against the state taking loans and even took measures to block access to such loans,” Sani explained. “Former Governor Nasiru El-Rufai vehemently opposed me on this, insulting and cursing me in public. I told him then that time would expose who truly cared for the people of Kaduna between us.”

Sani highlighted the current challenges faced by Kaduna State, particularly regarding the debt burden of $350 million left by El-Rufai, which has made it difficult to pay workers’ salaries. He noted that the current governor, Uba Sani, and his administration are now grappling with the consequences of the misappropriation of funds and the loans secured during El-Rufai’s tenure.

The situation underscores the ongoing repercussions of fiscal decisions made by past administrations, with the current leadership facing the daunting task of addressing financial challenges inherited from previous governments.
