In their speeches, stakeholders highlighted that the region has been severely affected by various crises, emphasizing the urgent need for the commission. They also advocated for the dredging of the River Niger, the revitalization of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex, respect for the rights of APC lawmakers in Plateau State, and more high-level appointments for party loyalists from the region.

The leaders pointed out several challenges facing the region, including infrastructural deficits, banditry, flooding, and other violent crimes, which they noted have significantly hindered both subsistence and large-scale farming.

Commending President Bola Tinubu for his effective handling of national issues and reforms aimed at sustainable development, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase, stressed the need for regional cooperation and highlighted the abandonment of the road leading to Baro Port as a major concern.

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State noted that the region is still reeling from the devastating 2022 flood that destroyed crops and livestock and displaced hundreds of thousands of people. Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the necessity for regional synergy to address these issues.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State called for greater unity and collaboration among leaders to achieve collective goals of development, peace, and security. Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and APC Coordinating Governor for the North Central, stated that the meeting aimed to thank members and stakeholders for their support, foster unity, and discuss critical issues of human and infrastructure development.

He also called for continued support for the President and the party, noting that efforts are underway to secure more appointments and significant projects for the region.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, praised the initiative to unify APC leaders for a common growth agenda, assuring that President Tinubu appreciates the region’s contributions and will further reward their loyalty.

APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje highlighted that the meeting was part of the ongoing party reforms designed to keep the APC active year-round. He also mentioned the establishment of the Progressive Institute to train leaders and members on democratic principles and progressive policies.
