The leading gubernatorial candidate in the much-anticipated Edo September gubernatorial election, Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, who touched down in Edo State a few days ago, has once again continued his campaign of communicating extensively with Edolites from all walks of life. He has been listening attentively to their pains, burdens, and preferred solutions to gain a robust understanding of what serving the people entails and how to achieve impactful governance, as that is the essence of democracy.
One of the former NBA President Akpata’s engagements that has captured significant attention on the internet is his interaction with individuals living with disabilities. During this engagement, Akpata revealed that both our present and past societies have often neglected these individuals. He assured them that his incoming administration would remember and prioritize their needs, pledging to change the status quo. His plans, which will be fully detailed in his manifesto, include government support and the creation of specialized schools to assist individuals with disabilities. He also made a noteworthy revelation, stating that he and his campaign team meet twice a week with individuals living with disabilities.
At the end of the engagement, individuals with disabilities, using sign language and other means, expressed their gratitude to Akpata and his team for including them in his vision for Edo State’s future.
Footage from this historic engagement has surfaced on the internet, garnering widespread praise from netizens.
Bukola’s Reaction: “I was really moved by Akpata’s commitment to including persons with disabilities in his plans for Edo State. It’s not often that politicians pay genuine attention to our needs. Okechi’s Reaction: “Akpata’s dedication to meeting twice a week with individuals living with disabilities is commendable. It demonstrates a level of sincerity and consistency that is rare in politics. His promise to create specialized schools and provide government support gives me hope that our voices are being heard and that real change is on the horizon.”
Osayi’s Reaction: “Seeing Akpata’s interaction with individuals living with disabilities and his plans to alleviate their burdens is inspiring. It’s clear that he values inclusivity and wants to build a better future for everyone in Edo State. His actions and promises have certainly earned my respect and support. I believe he is the right person to lead us towards a more inclusive and supportive society.”
