Breaking: FG Unveils Visionary Space Strategy, Paving The Way For AI

The Federal Government has announced plans to develop a National Space Strategy and implement the recently approved National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Trust, according to Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.

“It was a productive meeting with my colleague, Chief Uche Nnaji, as we aligned on the need for a well-defined document detailing Nigeria’s position in the space sector,” Tijani wrote.

The National Space Strategy will outline Nigeria’s goals in satellite technology, space exploration, and related innovations. To this end, a joint committee involving both ministries and other key agencies will be established to draft the framework guiding Nigeria’s space ambitions.

Meanwhile, the ministers also reviewed the next steps for the National AI Trust, which received the green light from the Federal Executive Council earlier this week. Nnaji is set to play a significant role in the trust’s leadership, ensuring cross-ministerial collaboration to foster AI innovation and governance.

The AI Trust will consist of 10 AI experts alongside government officials, including ministers from communications, digital economy, science, innovation, and technology sectors. This initiative aims to strengthen Nigeria’s AI capabilities, attract foreign direct investment, and stimulate job creation across critical sectors of the economy.
