Fired Adamawa Official Swears By Quran, Accuses INEC Of Ignoring Truth
Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the sacked Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Adamawa State, has stood firm on his controversial declaration of Aisha Binani as the rightful winner of the 2023 governorship election. During a press briefing in Bauchi, Ari accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the election tribunal of disregarding critical evidence supporting Binani’s victory over Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. He claimed that despite presenting authentic result sheets, his evidence was dismissed without a fair hearing.
Ari criticized both INEC and the tribunal, arguing that their refusal to consider his submissions violated principles of natural justice. “Even God will not judge without sending messages and scriptures. Why was I not heard?” he questioned.
Holding the Quran aloft, Ari reaffirmed his integrity, stating, “Wallahi, everything I did was within the teachings of the Quran. We must remember the final day.” He also alleged that some INEC officials faced threats and assaults during the election, casting doubt on the process’s integrity.
Despite the backlash and his dismissal, Ari remained unapologetic, declaring, “I can announce it again: Aisha Binani won that election against Fintiri.”
