Nigerian Government Recovers N28.7 Billion From Seplat And Chorus Energy

The Federal Government of Nigeria has secured N28.7 billion in debt repayment from Seplat Production Development Limited and Chorus Energy Limited. The amount was remitted to the Federation Account to address outstanding liabilities. A statement from the Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Akin Rotimi Jr., revealed that Chorus Energy paid $847,623 (about N1.2 billion) on March 11, 2025, while Seplat completed its payment of $18.39 million (N27.6 billion) between March 10 and March 14, 2025. This repayment follows an investigation triggered by the 2021 Audit Report, which identified $1.7 billion in unpaid liabilities by 45 oil companies.
