Pity Doesn’t Work For Men,” Actor Yul Edochie Says
According to Ireporter Online, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has shared his views on how society responds to men facing emotional and personal struggles, stating that men are often denied pity or emotional support during difficult times.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast produced by Glitch Africa Studios, Edochie said men are generally expected to endure hardship in silence, remain resilient, and continue pushing forward regardless of their circumstances. He argued that society tends to show more sympathy toward women and children, while emotional men are often overlooked or judged harshly.
Edochie further expressed concern over men who break down emotionally, insisting that such displays are rarely accepted. He was also quoted as saying that men who take their own lives are weak, stressing that men are expected to “stand up and keep moving” no matter what they face.
