Lateef Adedimeji Crowned Nigeria’s Muslim Celebrity Of The Year In Grand Honour

According to Ireporter Online, renowned Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has been named the Nigerian Muslim Celebrity of the Year at the #MNAwards2025, an honour celebrating his growing influence in the film industry and his steadfast dedication to Islamic values.

The announcement was made on Friday, November 14, by the Publisher of Muslim News Nigeria, Alhaji Rasheed Abubakar, who explained that Adedimeji distinguished himself by meeting the award’s criteria, which recognise Muslim professionals who make meaningful contributions to society while remaining committed to their faith.

Adedimeji’s career has witnessed remarkable growth over the last four years, propelled by his standout performances in acclaimed biopics such as Ayinla (2021), Jagun Jagun (2023), and the recent two-part historical drama Lisabi (2024/2025). The projects earned him significant praise at major film festivals, including the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) and the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

Despite his soaring popularity, Adedimeji has continued to embrace a modest lifestyle and openly identifies with his Islamic heritage, often reflecting his values in both his public appearances and online engagements. He is widely recognised for promoting Islam positively through frequent use of Islamic greetings, supplications, and faith-based messages shared with his millions of social media followers.

His digital platforms, especially active during Fridays, Ramadan, Dhul Hijjah, and Islamic festivities, feature Qur’anic verses, Hadith quotes, prayer reminders, and motivational content encouraging Muslims to uphold their religious obligations. He also consistently participates in youth-focused Islamic programmes, humanitarian initiatives, and campaigns aimed at strengthening faith awareness across Nigeria.

While congratulating the actor, Abubakar described the recognition as a reminder that both God and society observe the actions of public figures. He noted that the Award underscores Adedimeji’s exemplary conduct and further charges him to continue serving as a role model inspired by Islamic teachings.

He added that the honour should motivate other Muslim celebrities to confidently express their religious identity, stressing that Islam calls its followers to uphold virtue and discourage wrongdoing.
