Tinubu Unveils Powerful Security Team To Lead Fresh US-Nigeria Strategic Alliance

According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the formation of the Nigerian contingent of the US-Nigeria Joint Working Group, a strategic move aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in addressing security concerns across the country.

The announcement was made on Thursday through a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. The establishment of the Joint Working Group follows commitments reached during a recent high-level visit to Washington, D.C., led by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Ribadu has been appointed to head Nigeria’s delegation in the Joint Working Group and will be supported by senior representatives from key ministries and national security institutions. The team includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Bernard M. Doro; Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed; and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Additionally, Ms Idayat Hassan from the Office of the National Security Adviser and Mr Paul Alabi from the Embassy of Nigeria in the United States will serve as the secretariat for the group.

President Tinubu has charged the newly constituted team to collaborate closely with their counterparts in the United States to ensure effective execution of all agreements spanning various sectors.
