According to Ireporter Online, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will approach their final Group B fixture against Uganda with caution as four key players face possible suspension ahead of the knockout phase of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria, who have already secured qualification for the Round of 16 following consecutive victories over Tanzania and Tunisia, are seeking to complete the group stage with maximum points when they face Uganda on Tuesday. However, disciplinary concerns now loom over the squad.

Star striker Victor Osimhen, winger Ademola Lookman, defender Semi Ajayi and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali are all one yellow card away from suspension, a situation that could influence tactical decisions by head coach Eric Chelle.

Osimhen remains a vital component of Nigeria’s attacking line, but another caution would automatically rule him out of the Round of 16. Should the Napoli forward be rested or sidelined, Paul Onuachu is expected to step in as the leading option upfront.

Lookman is also walking a disciplinary tightrope after an impressive start to the competition. The Atalanta winger has scored in both of Nigeria’s group matches, underlining his growing influence and importance as the team heads into the decisive stages of the tournament.

In defence, Semi Ajayi’s status could prompt adjustments at the back, with Chelle potentially opting for tactical flexibility, including the possible deployment of Zaidu Sanusi to manage the risk of suspension.

Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is equally under scrutiny after receiving a yellow card for time-wasting during Nigeria’s victory over Tunisia. Another booking would see him miss the Round of 16, with Francis Uzoho ready to step in if required.

With qualification already assured, a victory over Uganda would hand the Super Eagles a perfect nine points from the group and further strengthen their claim as strong contenders for the AFCON 2025 title.
