Explosions Rock Caracas, Leaving Parts Of City In Darkness

Caracas, Venezuela – Multiple explosions shook Venezuela’s capital in the early hours of Saturday, leaving several neighborhoods without electricity.

According to reports from international news outlets, the first blast occurred around 1:50 a.m. local time. Witnesses described the explosions as powerful enough to shake buildings. One resident said, “One was so strong, my window was shaking after it.”

The blasts caused widespread blackouts, while residents also reported hearing low-flying aircraft. Videos circulating online showed plumes of smoke rising into the night sky, accompanied by flashes of light and distant booms.

Explosions were reported not only in Caracas but also in La Guaira State and the coastal city of Higuerote in Miranda State, according to local media outlets. The cause of the blasts remains unknown.

The incident occurs amid heightened tensions between Venezuela and the United States. US President Donald Trump had previously warned that Washington was prepared to take action against alleged drug trafficking operations in Venezuela. In October, Trump confirmed that the CIA had been authorised to operate in the country to curb illegal flows of drugs and migrants.
