Katsina Pilgrims Get ₦3.8bn Boost As Radda Approves Hajj Loan

According to Ireporter Online, the Katsina State Government has approved a ₦3.8 billion loan facility to secure 3,890 Hajj seats for intending pilgrims from the state ahead of the 2026 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

The approval was disclosed by Governor Dikko Radda on Sunday in Katsina during a farewell ceremony organised for the state’s intending pilgrims departing for the Holy Land. He explained that the intervention became necessary after the state initially encountered financial challenges in meeting its allocated Hajj quota through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.

Radda noted that the loan enabled Katsina State to successfully secure and fully allocate its 3,890 slots for the exercise, ensuring no intending pilgrim was left behind. He stated that the government acted swiftly to resolve the funding gap in order to support the spiritual aspirations of citizens.

The governor also urged the pilgrims to dedicate their prayers to lasting peace, unity, and improved security across Katsina State and Nigeria at large. He further announced that the state government would sponsor Hadaya for all pilgrims as part of its welfare package for the 2026 Hajj operation.

In addition, Radda disclosed that each pilgrim would receive a $500 allowance to support their basic needs while in Saudi Arabia. He also revealed that 200 officials had been deployed to provide spiritual guidance, medical care, and logistical assistance throughout the pilgrimage.

According to him, the state government has strengthened the structure of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board to improve efficiency and address past operational challenges. He added that strict supervision and accountability measures had been directed for all officials involved in the exercise.

Radda cautioned the pilgrims to uphold discipline and serve as good ambassadors of Katsina State and Nigeria, stressing the importance of patience, respect, and responsible conduct during the pilgrimage. He also warned against the spread of misinformation while abroad.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving accommodation and feeding arrangements for pilgrims, noting that he had personally inspected facilities during previous operations and was satisfied with ongoing improvements.

He assured that the government would continue to prioritise the welfare, safety, and comfort of all pilgrims throughout the 2026 Hajj exercise.
