Makinde Appoints New Special Adviser On Security Matters

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Abayomi Fagbenro as the new Special Adviser on Security, in a move aimed at bolstering the state’s security architecture.

According to official communications issued by the governor’s office, Prince Arowosaye Adeyemi was also appointed as Chairman of the Board of the Pacesetter Mineral Development Company.

The appointments were conveyed in separate letters signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi.

Fagbenro brings extensive international experience to his new role, having worked at the Department of Defense, Army Network Enterprise Centre in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, from 2007 to 2012. During his time in the United States, he also underwent military training in Great Lakes, Illinois, and Chicago.

He furthered his education at East Coast Polytechnic Institute and later earned a degree in Information Systems from Strayer University.

Adeyemi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from University of Abuja. He previously served as both caretaker committee chairman and executive chairman of Oyo East Local Government.

Governor Makinde congratulated the two appointees and urged them to regard their appointments as an opportunity to serve the people of Oyo State diligently and with commitment.

The appointments take immediate effect.

In a related development, President Bola Tinubu has appointed Major General Adeyinka A. Fadewa (retd.) as Special Adviser on Homeland Security.

According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, led by George Akume, the appointment underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening internal security coordination, enhancing intelligence-driven operations, and fostering greater collaboration among security agencies to tackle emerging threats across the country.
