APC Unveils Full List Of State Coordinators, Collation Officers For 2026 Presidential Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a list of state coordinators and collation officers ahead of its 2026 presidential primary election, as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the nationwide exercise. According to party guidelines released on Thursday and signed by APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, the officials are expected to oversee the conduct and coordination of the direct primary across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Reports indicate that the APC has adopted the direct primary method for the presidential contest, allowing all registered party members to participate in the voting process at the ward level. The exercise is expected to take place simultaneously across Nigeria’s 8,809 wards, where party faithful will cast their votes for their preferred presidential aspirants.

Under the framework outlined by the party, results from the wards will first be collated at the local government level before being transmitted to state coordinators for further collation and submission to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja.

Political observers noted that the APC also strategically appointed prominent party leaders to supervise the process in states currently controlled by opposition parties. The move is seen as an effort to strengthen the party’s internal structures and ensure effective coordination in areas where APC governors are absent.

In Oyo State, governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the APC named Teslim Folarin as coordinator and collation officer, while in Abia State, controlled by the Labour Party, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, was appointed to oversee the exercise.

The released list includes several serving governors and influential party figures. Among them are Hope Uzodimma for Imo, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for Lagos, Babagana Zulum for Borno, Uba Sani for Kaduna, and Dikko Radda for Katsina, among others.

The party further disclosed that the appointed state coordinators would be responsible for selecting local government collation officers across the country’s 774 local government areas. These officers are expected to aggregate ward-level results before forwarding them to the state coordinators for final collation.

According to the outlined timetable, the collated state results will subsequently be presented to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja on May 24, 2026, marking a major stage in the APC’s build-up to the next general election.
