The Nigerian naira traded at different rates against the United States dollar in the parallel foreign exchange market on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with market operators quoting a selling rate of ₦1,410 per dollar and a buying rate of ₦1,400.

According to market sources, Bureau De Change (BDC) operators at the Lagos Parallel Market sold one US dollar for ₦1,410 and bought it at ₦1,400.

This means customers looking to sell their dollars to BDC operators received about ₦1,400 per dollar, while those purchasing the US currency paid approximately ₦1,410.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognise the parallel or black market as an official foreign exchange market. The apex bank has advised individuals seeking forex to conduct their transactions through authorised financial institutions.
