The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Chiamaka Nnake, has explained her involvement with the purported Made-in-Nigeria agency recently identified by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as a fake Federal Government entity.

Nnake said her involvement began after the Anambra State Government received an official communication from the organisation, which claimed to operate under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

According to her, the organisation contacted Governor Chukwuma Soludo in January 2026 and requested the nomination of a state focal person. She said the governor subsequently appointed her to represent Anambra State in February.

Nnake explained that focal persons nominated from the 36 states were later added to a WhatsApp group where they discussed activities and programmes associated with the organisation.

She maintained that her interactions with the group were strictly based on official engagements and assignments received from the state government.

The SSG said the organisation subsequently approached the Anambra Government with a proposal to host the South-East edition of its Made-in-Nigeria Fair in the state. The request was approved, leading to preparations for the event scheduled for December 2 to 5, 2026.

Nnake noted that a meeting was held about two weeks ago to begin preparations for the fair, with the organisation’s purported National Coordinator reportedly in attendance.

However, following the ICPC’s discovery that the organisation allegedly had no authorisation to operate as a Federal Government agency, Nnake said she had no reason at the time to question its legitimacy because of the official correspondence received by the state government.

She stressed that neither she nor the Anambra State Government had any connection with activities allegedly carried out by the organisation outside the official engagements she described.

Nnake said her involvement was limited to her role as the state focal person and the preparations for the proposed Made-in-Nigeria Fair.

She added that any other activities, claims or developments attributed to the organisation were outside her knowledge and involvement.

The clarification comes amid an ongoing investigation by the ICPC into the purported agency, which the anti-corruption body has described as a fictitious Federal Government entity.
