You Told Me You’d Die’ – Baba Suwe’s Daughter Reveals Final Conversation

Halimat Omidina, daughter of the late Yoruba actor Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, has opened up about the final moments she shared with her father before his death.

The model and content creator shared the emotional memories on Saturday while marking what would have been the veteran actor’s 68th birthday.

Baba Suwe died on November 22, 2021, at the age of 63. He would have turned 68 on August 22, 2026.

Reflecting on his posthumous birthday in a series of posts on her X account, Halimat described the occasion as painful and markedly different from the celebrations they once had together.

She recalled the absence of the usual festivities, family gatherings and her father’s presence, expressing how much she wished she had created more memories with him.

Halimat also revealed that Baba Suwe had spoken about his impending death shortly before he passed away. According to her, the actor told her he would die two days before his death, but she initially dismissed the statement, believing he was joking.

She expressed regret that she did not take his words seriously and said she wished she had held him tighter and spent more time creating lasting memories with him.

The content creator explained that she received a call the following day asking her to return home because her father’s condition had worsened. By the time she arrived, the veteran actor could no longer speak.

She said he died about an hour later.

Halimat prayed for Allah’s mercy upon her late father and asked that he be granted Jannatul Firdaus.

Baba Suwe was one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema and featured in several movies during his career, including Iru Esin, Baba Londoner, Oju Oloju and Baba Jaiye Jaiye.
