JUST IN: Obaseki Forces Illegal Harmonized List on State Chairman Aziegbemi, Sponsor Secondus To Stop PDP National Convention (Details)

In his desperate moves to blackmail the Peoples Democratic Party-PDP, and to coerce the party to have the party structure at the state level at all cost, the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, is coercing the State Chairman Dr. Tony Aziegbemi to illegally constitute an illegal list of a new set of PDP EXCO from the Ward to the state level without having the consent of the same EXCO that gave him the mandate to be the PDP candidate for the Edo State Gubernatorial election of 2020.

Obaseki in a meeting held on Tuesday 19th of October 2021 has instructed the State Chairman of the party to either ensure a new list is put together for an onward process to Abuja or is amongst anti-Obaseki.

Dr. Aziegbemi who feared being intimidated out from office has decided to comply with Obaseki’s instructions.

You will recall that Obaseki had sponsored the illegal suspension of some party leaders which includes Chief Dan Orbih, Rt. Hon. Ogbeide Ihama, and many others which he attempted to rectify considering himself as the State Leader of Edo PDP, a status he enjoys under courtesy, the Governor of Edo State has gone to sponsor another Court injunction to restrain the same people from attending the upcoming National Convention which was not granted but Adjourned to November 2nd, after the National Convention.

It will suffix to know that Obaseki is one of those sponsoring Prince Uche Secondus to embark on a court process to stop the National Convention. He has reaffirmed his support for Uche Secondus by sponsoring the purported restraining order against the likes of Chief Dan Orbih, Hon. Ogbeide Ihama and co from attending the National Convention that is coming up on October 30 and 31, 2021.

It will be recalled that hearing Obaseki’s plans of restraining them, Chief Dan Orbih had earlier gone to court to restrain PDP from denying him from attending the said Convention.

Obaseki who wants to forcefully have the structure of Edo PDP has his Deputy, SSG, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, eleven Commissioners, and two Special Advisers and other appointments so made, occupied by the new PDP leaving the old PDP out from the Government of Edo State.

You will also recall that, when Governor Godwin Obaseki was driven out of his former APC, PDP in its wisdom granted its platform to Obaseki as well as his Deputy as running mate in the 19th of September, 2020 Edo election.

The implication of Obaseki sponsored court orders is to make the outcome of the convention null and void if, Chief Orbih, Hon. Ihama and co are allowed to participate against the court order.

Our source, which pleaded anonymously, also inform us that there is a plan to use the court to remove the State Chairman and or seal up the State Secretariat. One of his newly appointed Commissioner was caught saying, he had advised Obaseki to remove the State Chairman who is not acting in their bid. They have openly accused the State Chairman that each time they give him an instruction, he gets clearance from Chief Dan Orbih, a reason they accused the State Chairman as the problem of the party.

Although Obaseki’s attempt to invalidate his illegal harmonized list for the convention failed as it was not accepted at the National Executive Committee, and attempt to stop Chief Dan Orbih and co from attending the convention also failed, the governor is banking on his last straw with Uche Secundus who is in court to stop the PDP National Convention.

I, therefore, call on PDP National leaders to call Mr. Godwin Obaseki to order. If he does not want us to benefit from the same government we help to return back to power, he can go with his Government and leave our party structure alone.

Let it be known that we will not waste any time approaching the court if we are forced out from the office.

Governor Godwin Obaseki should be called to order before it is too late.
