153 Suspects In Custody As Police Uncover ₦228,000 Drug Proceeds In Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has intensified its clampdown on crime and drug abuse, arresting 153 suspects and recovering over 13,000 illicit drug items during a sweeping operation across the state.

According to Ireporter Online, the coordinated raids were simultaneously executed across all 42 police divisions in Jigawa, leading to the seizure of 13,078 illegal drugs, a motorcycle, and ₦228,570 suspected to be proceeds from narcotic sales.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, revealed that the arrests followed a series of intelligence-led operations targeting criminal hideouts and drug trafficking networks. He explained that the suspects were apprehended for offences including drug peddling, possession of prohibited substances, and related crimes.

Recovered items included Exol and D5 tablets, Tramadol capsules, and cannabis, among other controlled substances.

Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, praised the officers involved for their professionalism and diligence, emphasizing that the ongoing operation reflects the Command’s determination to rid Jigawa of illicit drugs and criminal activities.

He urged residents to collaborate with law enforcement by providing credible information that could aid investigations and enhance public safety.

“We are committed to intelligence-driven policing and will continue to strengthen community partnerships to ensure lasting peace in Jigawa State,” the CP stated.

Muhammad also cautioned criminals to desist from unlawful activities or face prosecution, affirming that all 153 suspects have already been charged to court following investigations.

The Command reiterated its resolve to sustain the war against drug trafficking and substance abuse, noting that such vices remain key drivers of violent crime and insecurity in the state.
