18-Year-Old Nigerian Makes History As Youngest Commercial Pilot

According to Ireporter Online, Nigeria has celebrated another remarkable milestone as 18-year-old Mohammed Aminu Sani emerged as one of the country’s youngest-ever commercial pilots. Sani recently earned a United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot License after completing an intensive 10-month training program at Phoenix East Aviation (PEA) in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The young aviator completed every phase of his training without a single checkride failure—a rare feat even among experienced pilots—reflecting exceptional discipline, resilience, and focus.

Speaking about his achievement, Sani expressed immense pride in fulfilling his lifelong ambition. “Becoming a pilot has always been my childhood dream, and today I’m proud to say I’m living that dream and enjoying every step of the journey. It’s been an incredible experience filled with hard work, discipline, and passion. I hope my story inspires others to chase their dreams with determination and never give up on what they believe,” he said.

Born and raised in Abuja, Sani obtained his High School Diploma from Al-Hidaayah Academy and proceeded to The Regent College, Abuja, where he graduated with distinction in Economics Foundation. His strong academic background paved the way for his success abroad.

At Phoenix East Aviation—one of the world’s most respected FAA Part 141 flight schools—Sani trained under varied and challenging conditions, including night operations, instrument navigation in low visibility, and extensive cross-country missions. He logged over 50 flight hours on multi-engine aircraft such as the PA-34-200 Seneca and more than 30 hours of cross-country flight time.

Now holding an FAA Commercial Pilot License (AMEL), Sani represents a new generation of ambitious Nigerian youth breaking international barriers through education, dedication, and excellence. His success story continues to resonate across the country, inspiring many young people to dream boldly and work relentlessly toward global achievements.
