2023:Why Atiku May Outsmart APC, Tinubu And Emerge The Next President Of Nigeria By Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah

No matter how elephant heavy, e no fit cause earthquake!

This proverb best depicts how the final battle for the 2023 presidential election may eventually play out, no matter the kind of firebrand and heavyweight politicians that would ultimately clash Nigeria would still remain and come out stronger.

Some followers of my daily column would be marvelled at my postulations today. My people talk say “wetin goat see make am keep quiet big pass wetin dog see make am bark.” looking at my political Cyrstal ball tells me something is not adding up somewhere.

The APC as the ruling party may have finally decided to zone the presidency to the South going by its body language while the major opposition party the PDP may have jettisoned the zoning arrangement of the presidency.

The PDP seems to have more northerners interested in the presidency than southerners which validate the dumping of the zoning arrangement by the main opposition party.

A couple of days earlier the current governor of Yobe State, Nigeria and the caretaker chairman of the All Progressives Congress lead other northern governors and senators inclusive of the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan to pay a visit to the former vice president of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar at his Abuja residence.

To date, no reason has been deduced for the political immoral visit that smacks of ADULTERY by the APC leadership from the North.

Recall that this same caretaker committee that galvanized themselves and other elected party chieftains from the North have refused to organize a proper convention that would usher fresh leadership for the party.

In politics, we know that there are no permanent friends or enemies but still, there is the rule of engagement, there is the rule of party ethics and discipline, leading the top leadership from the North to pay a presidential aspirant from the North a visit is a NO-NO.

Not only does the visit rupture the APC it is also meant to instil fear and intimidation even in the PDP, a right-thinking presidential aspirant from the party would certainly have a rethink if such high calibres of party chieftains from the ruling party can pay the frontline presidential aspirant in their party a clandestine visit.

It shows influence and power, it illustrates that no matter what the PDP does the APC Northern Apparatchik got the back of the Waziri of Adamawa. In the said video one of the APC leaders was heard calling Atiku my leader.

My people, this kind visit and wetin dey sup for we polity calls for deep thinking oh, e mean say the game is beyond who the APC produces and seems focused on how to retain the presidency in the North.

Today Tinubu is arguably the main aspirant in the APC and he’s a Muslim. Tinubu has the charisma the capability and resources to deliver, but there is the issue of the vice presidential slot under Tinubu that these power players from the North in the APC are very uncomfortable with.

With Tinubu being a Southerner and Muslim there is the problem of picking a suitable vice under the Jagaban. The political options opened to a Christain vice president is limited unlike if the presidential aspirant was a southern Christain.

The North might not be ready to give the second most prominent position to a Christain aspirant for reasons best known to them.

Now let us follow the sequence and see why I activated my GOAT EYE over the plan currently recreating.

If Tinubu happens to be eased out of the race because of this scheming the next options available are Prof Osinbajo and surprisingly former President Goodluck Jonathan who coincidentally this same Mai Buni last year carried along his APC colleagues to pay him a visit and “seduce” him over to the APC.

Whatever their game plan for GEJ is more than meets the eye, I can confidently say the so-called game plan of Jonathan that he has only four years to rule then the power goes back to the North is a complete fallacy.

With Jonathan emerging as the APC presidential candidate there is the probability that the same Northern Governors would turn their back on him when he emerges as their presidential candidate.

Recall how the former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu led his PDP colleagues in betraying President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015? The man was non-repentant about this sacrilege on his party although Karma dealt with him, he lost his senatorial ambition that same year.

Then let us look at the possibility of Prof Osinbajo emerging as the APC presidential aspirant.

Osinbajo sadly to say has no political structure anywhere that can muster giants like Atiku, and I heard someone saying that he does not need structure as long as the APC presents him he would carry the day. FA FA FA FOWL….

There is nothing like that, who is the structure the APC would present for him when the Northern Governors and Senators are romancing Atiku? How can Osinbajo muster the heavyweights in the party to back him up when they throw the North vs South game plan?

Shey una dey see the matter? And the worst-case scenario is this, there is a concerted effort by these power brokers to cause heavy hostility between Tinubu and Prof Osinbajo, so if Osinbajo peradventure carries the day it would seem that he betrayed his benefactor which happens to be Tinubu.

When this succeeds it is envisaged that Tinubu would look the other way while Osinbajo is being bullied and messed up by this Northern Agenda. Who would then come to the rescue of Osinbajo?

Now you might have noticed that I have kept Buhari out of the picture since I started my TORI, my people na deliberate act by me o, if una study Buhari body language well you go see say the man no really send anybody.

Yes, say what you like Buhari has shown over time that he would always be a neutral and fair leader.

Politics is about lobbying so what these Northern Governors are doing is actually not out of place and in the end if the North retains power it is a win-win situation for the region.

Now Atiku himself is not a bad candidate either, he has shown to Nigerians to a large extent what he plans to do with the country consistently over time, hence I said no matter the weight of the Elephant e no fit cause volcano eruption.

So herein lies the analogy, if the ticket goes to a Southerner that has no strong political structure then na OYO o. On Your Own, “To your tents, O Israel.” Every Mallam to him Kettle.

It would be a two-horse race the North Vs the South who blinks first.

Conclusion.

Like I earlier stated Heaven no go fall if the North retains power, life must go on but let us look at the current reality on the ground before I drop my pen.

With Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the APC, there is the likely possibility that he can muster enough Northern allies that would match the plans of some of these APC governors scheming power back to their region.

Tinubu would be able to deploy his political sagacity and goodwill to fight the fiercest battle of his political career.

Atiku on the other hand is a well experienced and organized political leader who has been oiling his campaign from time immemorial. His deft political skills should never be underrated, he also has a strong charisma and appeals greatly to the South East who would throw their weight behind him despite a southerner emerging as APC flagbearer.

Once again the presidential race is not for the lily-livered, in the coming weeks and months we shall see high wired propaganda that would reshape the political history of Nigeria.

So let’s keep our fingers crossed and see how it plays out, and remember if you don’t like what you are seeing the only way changes can take place is by joining the electoral process and stopping your needless complaints.
