Prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and media mogul, Dele Momodu, has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider his political alliance with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Momodu cautioned President Tinubu against promoting Wike for political gains, warning that Wike’s character and leadership style make him unsuitable for such strategic positioning.

“My appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is that no matter what you are expecting to gain from Wike in 2027, Wike is not the kind of character you should promote. He is not the kind of young man who should hijack our common patrimony,” Momodu stated.

He alleged that Wike had been overtaken by the influence of wealth and power, claiming that the FCT Minister’s transformation over the years was shaped by ego and an inability to manage authority responsibly.

“When a man who had been a nobody gets power, he begins to change slowly and steadily,” Momodu added. “The oppressed man respects only one man: the oppressor. Wike used to respect only one man – Rotimi Amaechi.”

He further described Wike’s political evolution as a case study of how power and money can erode principles, noting that the FCT Minister’s journey began with his time as a local government chairman in Rivers State.

“Of course, after power in Nigeria comes the spirit of money—also very demonic if you don’t know how to manage it well,” he remarked.

Momodu also disclosed that he had played a role in promoting Wike’s governance image during his tenure as Rivers State Governor, including branding and packaging some of his public projects.
