According to Naija News, Usman delivered his inaugural khutbah (sermon) today during the Jumm’at prayer, marking a significant moment for Nigeria’s Muslim community. His appointment has been met with widespread celebration, especially among the South East Muslim Organisation of Nigeria (SEMON), which views it as a testament to Usman’s commitment to Islamic scholarship and leadership.

In a statement, SEMON praised the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), under the leadership of President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, for its inclusivity.

SEMON emphasized that Usman’s appointment not only represents a personal milestone but also a vital responsibility to guide the Muslim community in worship and service to Allah. They expressed hope that his leadership would reinforce the Igbo Muslim community and foster unity among the wider Nigerian Muslim population.
