Abducted Varsity Students And NYSC Members Rescued In Zamfara

Predominantly female students were taken from their hostels during the unfortunate incident. Despite efforts by the university authorities and families of the victims, only a portion of the captives were released after several months of captivity, leaving 23 students still held by the kidnappers.

Fortunately, reports emerged on Sunday evening confirming the rescue of the remaining students in an operation carried out by security forces. The students were released at Kuncin Kalgo in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State and handed over to government officials.

Alongside the students, some National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were kidnapped in Sokoto State were also successfully rescued by security operatives.

Zamfara State has been heavily impacted by violent attacks carried out by bandits in the North West region. During a recent visit to Aso Rock, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara informed President Bola Tinubu that his state is currently under siege, with several attacks occurring in local government communities.

Governor Lawal emphasized the urgent need for increased military personnel and equipment to effectively address the security situation in Zamfara. He stressed that if nothing is done in Zamfara State, it could exacerbate the security challenges in the entire northern region.
