of Sankara’s alleged lover, Tasleem Baba-Nabegu. Buba was apprehended outside his lawyer’s office on Tuesday.

The incident began with a complaint filed by Buba to the Kano State Hisbah operatives, accusing Sankara of an extramarital affair with his wife. Hisbah operatives then arrested the commissioner, prompting Buba to pursue the matter in a Shariah court.

On Monday, the presiding judge, Ibrahim Sarki-Yola, dismissed the case after an investigation by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 1, Kano, revealed insufficient evidence to support the adultery claim.

However, on Tuesday, the police took Buba into custody on charges of cyberstalking his wife. Reports suggest that Buba had obtained evidence from his wife’s phone, including videos, pictures, chats, and voice recordings, to support his case against Sankara.

Sources close to the case expressed concerns over the police’s actions, accusing them of bias. They argued that Buba presented substantial evidence, yet Sankara was cleared, and the complainant was now facing arrest for cyberstalking.

When contacted, Abdullahi Kiyawa, the spokesperson for the Kano State police command, said he was unaware of the arrest but promised to investigate and provide further clarification.

In the meantime, the Jigawa State Government confirmed the reinstatement of Commissioner Auwal Sankara following his acquittal.
