According to Ireporter Online, multiple high-ranking terrorist commanders and over 50 insurgents have been eliminated in coordinated airstrikes conducted by the military under Operation Hadin Kai in the Lake Chad region.

Military sources cited by counter-insurgency analyst Zagazola Makama revealed that the precision strikes were executed on May 31 around the Kirta and Arina Ciki areas, targeting identified terrorist strongholds and logistics hubs following credible intelligence on insurgent movements.

Post-operation assessments reportedly confirmed the death of a senior terrorist figure, Khalifa Umar, who was said to be a member of the insurgents’ Shura Council based in Sigir. Two other field commanders, identified as Abdallah and Abduljalil, were also neutralised in the operation.

Further details indicated that more than 50 insurgents were killed during the air raids, while several logistics facilities, supply depots, and support structures used by the group were destroyed, significantly weakening their operational capacity across the Lake Chad Basin.

The report noted that sustained aerial operations have intensified pressure on terrorist elements, forcing many fighters to abandon long-held island hideouts for more exposed positions on the mainland.

Security sources described the overall situation in the theatre as calm but fluid, stressing the need for continued vigilance by troops. They also expressed confidence in the operational effectiveness and morale of deployed forces, adding that the latest success would further strengthen ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
