Akoko Edo Youths Condemn Obaseki’s Shocking Sack Of Health Commissioner ; Calls Deputy Governor Slot A “Greek Gift”
Benin City, July 16, 2024 – In a stunning and outrageous development, the Akoko Edo Youth for Progressive Change (AEYPC) has unleashed a scathing rebuke of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki for his unforgivable decision to sack the highly esteemed Health Commissioner, Dr. Samuel Alli.
This brazen act of political vengeance has ignited a firestorm of anger and betrayal among the youth of Akoko-Edo, who now see Obaseki’s actions as a clear manifestation of his deep-seated animosity towards their community.
The youth group did not mince words, accusing Governor Obaseki of hiding behind a façade of false affection when he impeached his former deputy and handpicked a new deputy governor from Akoko-Edo. This move, they assert, was nothing more than a deceitful ploy to gain their support, which has now been brutally exposed by the callous dismissal of Dr. Alli, a commissioner renowned for his exemplary performance.
“The elections are looming, and Obaseki is playing a dangerous game of political chess, using the people of Akoko-Edo as mere pawns,” declared AEYPC spokesperson, Mrs. Iyabo Ojo. “His appointment of a deputy governor from our community, only to disgracefully sack our best-performing commissioner, is a ‘Greek gift’ that we categorically reject. This act of humiliation and betrayal is proof that he never had any genuine regard for us.”
The AEYPC has vowed to rally the people of Akoko-Edo to resist what they see as an unprecedented attack on their integrity and to expose the governor’s duplicity. They are calling on all well-meaning citizens to stand in solidarity against this gross injustice and to demand accountability from a leadership that has shown itself to be treacherous and untrustworthy.
Governor Obaseki’s actions have not only betrayed the trust of Akoko-Edo but have also cast a dark shadow over his administration’s commitment to fairness and equity. As the elections approach, the people of Akoko-Edo are sending a clear message: they will not be manipulated or marginalized, and they will fight to protect their rights and dignity.
