Amazing Event: Nigerian Army Celebrate-Anniversary With Zamfara-Orphans Affected By Terrorism (Photos)

The 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Gusau, Zamfara State, marked its 161st anniversary by honoring children who lost their parents in the fight against terrorism.

According to Lieutenant Suleiman Omale, spokesperson for the brigade, the event was dedicated to honoring the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives in defense of Nigeria and its citizens.

Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, the Brigade Commander, led the distribution of essential items such as medical consumables, educational materials, clothing, and footwear to orphans, the less privileged, and other needy individuals in the state. This initiative underscores the army’s commitment to fostering civil-military relations and supporting the local community.

Approximately 400 orphans and disadvantaged individuals benefited from the distribution, which included exercise books, pencils, and pens provided to students across eleven primary and secondary schools in Gusau.

During the ceremony, Brigadier General Ahmed urged community members to collaborate with the army by reporting on criminal activities and encouraging informants to surrender their weapons. He emphasized the army’s ongoing efforts to combat banditry and ensure peace and stability in Zamfara State, particularly for farmers striving to cultivate their lands.

The event also included the distribution of medical supplies to 14 local government areas and customized exercise books to schools across the region. Zamfara State has been grappling with a prolonged insurgency that has resulted in significant casualties, displacement, and economic disruption over the past decade.

The army continues to solicit public support and cooperation in its mission to combat terrorism and restore peace in the troubled North-west region of Nigeria.
